When designer Kim Michel and the team set out to create HYG Reflect, they began with observation rather than technology. They studied bedside tables – the accumulation of books, glasses, phones, lamps, and the chaos that often results from too little space and too many needs.
"When we designed the Reflect speaker, we envisioned it positioned next to your bed, aligned with your line of sight and close to your pillow," Kim explains. "We aimed for it to share the comforting qualities of your pillow: warmth, soothing, and supportive."
By carefully refining Reflect’s size, shape, and functionality, they created a compact bedside companion that leaves more room for essentials. The wireless charging pad on top meant one less cable, one less device competing for precious surface area.
But the real challenge was making technology feel invisible. By discreetly integrating technology, the team ensured it wouldn't obstruct your view while you rest. The user interface was designed to appear only when needed, remaining easy and supportive to operate even when you're tired – those fumbling moments at 3 am when your brain hasn't fully engaged.
HYG Reflect includes three original ambient soundscapes designed to transform personal spaces into environments of warmth and deep stillness. From the calming atmosphere of “Moonlight Echo” to the peaceful imagery of “Golden Hour” and the quiet awakening of “Daybreak”, each soundscape explores a different emotional territory.
The custom alarm ringtone followed the same philosophy, balancing tranquillity with the energy needed to begin a new day, while remaining warm no matter how loud or repetitive it becomes.
The result is more than just a bedside speaker with an alarm function. "Reflect is designed to enhance your evening and morning rituals, helping you start and end your day in the best possible way," says Kim.
